Denver, Colo. - Feb. 6, 2019 - Cherry Knoll Farm was rewarded with a champion title after a successful weekend at the 2019 National Western Stock Show. Cherry Knoll Fern 1809 made the long road trip to Denver, Colorado, well worth it by bringing home the Late Winter Heifer Calf Champion title.
Owned by Mercedes Ferree of Sullivan, Indiana, and shown by Cherry Knoll Farm's Angus manager, Tim Fitzgerald, Cherry Knoll Fern 1809 first topped her competitive class that featured 15 top heifers. After winning her class judged by Steve Reimer and Kelly Bruns, Cherry Knoll Fern 1809 moved on to be crowned Late Winter Heifer Calf Champion.
"I am really happy about her performance in Denver," Fitzgerald commented on Cherry Knoll Fern 1809. "The heifer stood out to the judges with the power she possesses and their marks were quite high on her - she won against some of the best heifers in the country."
Cherry Knoll Fern 1809 comes from a top Angus line. Her sire, PVF Insight 0129, and dam, Cherry Knoll Fern 9072, gave her great structural correctness, mobility, a fresh appearance, and a lovely neck while maintaining her massive cow body.
Moving forward, Cherry Knoll Fern 1809 will return to competition in May at the Atlantic National Angus Show in Timonium, Maryland, before competing in Timonium for the Eastern Regional Junior Angus Show in June. The entire team at Cherry Knoll Farm will also be heading to the National Junior Angus Show in Louisville, Kentucky, later in the summer.
